Migration Recursive DNS Resolver Servers

We will migrate our recursive DNS resolver servers to a recent version on new servers.

The servers will keep their IP-Addresses and therefore no configuration change on systems relying on those name-servers for DNS lookups is needed.

We don't expect this change to cause any harm (due to having a redundant pair of nameservers), for the sake of safety we perform the switch-over during our maintenance-window.

This change only affects recursive DNS resolution. Our authoritative DNS servers (name servers) used for domains are not affected.

Managed Server Version 5: MySQL Dumps: Remove Excluded Tables

By now, certain tables (TYPO3 cache tables, see full list below) have been excluded in our daily MySQL dumps created in ~/backup/. If you are unaware of those excludes, this could lead to unexpected behaviour when restoring databases. Therefore, we analyzed the current usage and conclueded that we can safely remove the excludes in favour of exporting the full database. The exports will require slightly more diskspace (LZOP compression is used), but the reduced complexity in case of emergency actions do justify this.

New included TYPO3 tables (other applications are not affected):

  • cache_extensions
  • cache_hash
  • cache_imagesizes
  • cache_pages
