Migrate Mail-Relay

We will migrate our Mail-Relay to a new server.

  • This affects only a small fraction of managed-servers where that are explicitely configured to use this mail-relay for outbound mail
  • Since we migrate the IP address, there is no need for any configuration change on the managed-servers that send mail via this relay server
  • During the migration the system will be unavailable for a short period of approximately 5 to 10min

Cluster Maintenance

We will update soft- and firmware throughout our cluster. During the update, a higher disk i/o latency is to be expected.

Migration Recursive DNS Resolver Servers

We will migrate our recursive DNS resolver servers to a recent version on new servers.

The servers will keep their IP-Addresses and therefore no configuration change on systems relying on those name-servers for DNS lookups is needed.

We don't expect this change to cause any harm (due to having a redundant pair of nameservers), for the sake of safety we perform the switch-over during our maintenance-window.

This change only affects recursive DNS resolution. Our authoritative DNS servers (name servers) used for domains are not affected.

Managed Server 9: Debian 12.10 Release, scheduled 11 months ago

Debian has released Debian 12.10. To load new kernel versions, we will reboot all Managed Server during our maintenance window.

All servers are restarted once to ensure that the new Linux kernel is active. For details and a list of all packages, please see the Debian news.

Docker Image Mirror, scheduled 11 months ago

Docker will introduce Docker Hub pull limits starting on April 1st (Details). To avoid rejected image pulls, we provide and configure a central image mirror. Docker will fall back to a direct connection whenever the mirror cannot respond for whatever reason, so we don't expect any drawbacks.

To apply this change, the Docker service on each server will restart. Please make sure that your containers are configured to start automatically.
